Tom
Grace is certified as an ACSM Health Fitness Instructor. He was
a participant in the "Project Total Conditioning", the
original Nautilus study with Arthur Jones and Dr. Ellington Darden,
at the US Military Academy at West Point, in the Spring of 1975.
Tom Graduated in 1978 with a B.S. degree from West Point and became
a Commissioned Infantry Officer. His army assignments includes being
a Commander in the Green Berets (Special Forces), as well as being
trained as an Airborne Master Parachutist, Ranger, Pathfinder, and
Combat Scuba Diver.
Tom's
continued physical education took him to Penn State University's
Noll Laboratory for Human Performance, where in 1990, Tom graduated
with a Masters of Science in Exercise and Sports Science; concentrated
in Applied Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics. During this time,
he was also an Associate Professor in the Physical Education Department
at West Point, before becoming it's Director of Instructing 1991-1992.
As
a leading expert on strength training in the US Army, Tom supervised
42 instructors, 57 programs, and was responsible for the purchasing,
research, and decisions of fitness equipment for seven separate
strength and conditioning facilities serving over 4400 West Point
Cadets.
Tom
retired at the rank of Major in 1992, when he started as an independent
fitness equipment distributor.
